Indications
- Treatment of life-threatening infections
- Therapy for severe staphylococcal infections

Pharmacology
- Binds tightly to D-alanyl-D-alanine portion of cell wall precursor
- Causes blockage of glycopeptide polymerization

- Overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms with prolonged use
- Observation for superinfection during therapy
- Risk of pseudomembranous colitis due to C. difficile
