Indications

  • Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology

  • Telmisartan blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects
  • Hydrochlorothiazide affects renal tubular mechanisms of electrolyte reabsorption

Dosage & Administration

  • Initial dose of Telmisartan monotherapy 80 mg
  • Dose titration up to 160 mg/25 mg after 2 to 4 weeks if necessary

Interaction

  • Caution with aliskiren, NSAIDs, corticosteroids, ACE blockers, angiotensin II receptor blockers

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or Hydrochlorothiazide
  • Co-administration contraindicated with Aliskiren in patients with Diabetes
