- Dose based on patient's current treatment with Metformin Hydrochloride or Linagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride
Maximum Recommended Dose
- 2.5 mg Linagliptin and 1000 mg Metformin Hydrochloride twice daily with meals for immediate release tablet
- 5 mg Linagliptin and 2000 mg Metformin Hydrochloride once daily with a meal for extended-release tablet
Cationic Drugs Interaction
- Potential interaction with cationic drugs eliminated by renal tubular secretion
- Careful patient monitoring and dose adjustment recommended
Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors Interaction
- Use with caution due to risk of inducing metabolic acidosis
P-glycoprotein and CYP3A4 Enzymes Interaction
- Potential reduction in Linagliptin efficacy when co-administered with strong P-gp or CYP 3A4 inducers
Drugs Affecting Glycemic Control Interaction
- Certain drugs tend to produce hyperglycemia and may lead to loss of glycemic control when administered with Renolina M
Contraindications
- Renal impairment
- Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis
- Hypersensitivity to Linagliptin or Metformin Hydrochloride

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy
- Caution during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue immediately in case of lactic acidosis or suspected pancreatitis
- Monitoring of hematologic parameters due to potential Vitamin B12 lowering effect
- Effects of alcohol, other medicines, counseling, travel, and emergencies
- Risk of hypoglycemia and its symptoms
Overdose Effects
- Supportive measures in event of overdose
- Hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis unlikely for Linagliptin
- Metformin Hydrochloride is dialyzable
