Indications
- Treatment of hypertension
- Treatment with other antihypertensive agents
- Initial therapy for blood pressure goals
Pharmacology
- Fixed dose combination of Telmisartan and Amlodipine
- Non-peptide angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB)
- Specific angiotensin II antagonist
- Blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II
- Dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker (CCB)
- Inhibits transmembrane influx of calcium ions
- Peripheral arterial vasodilator
Dosage & Administration
- Usual starting dose of 40/5 mg once daily
- Maximum recommended dose of 80/10 mg once daily
- Initial therapy not recommended in certain patient groups
- Dosage must be individualized
- Add-on therapy for inadequate blood pressure control
Interaction
- Co-administration with various medications
- Inhibition of CYP2C19
- No clinically relevant effects on the pharmacokinetics of amlodipine

- Known hypersensitivity to the product or its components
- Pregnancy & lactation
- Biliary obstructive disorders
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Hypotension
- Cardiogenic shock
- Left ventricle outflow tract obstruction

Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid fetal or neonatal exposure
- Correct volume or salt depletion before initiating therapy
- Monitor for worsening heart failure
- Avoid concomitant use of ACE inhibitor and angiotensin receptor blocker
Use in Special Populations
- Pediatric use not established
- Initial therapy not recommended in patients ≥75 years old
- Not recommended in hepatically impaired patients
Overdose Effects
- Manifestations of overdose with Telmisartan
- Manifestations of overdose with Amlodipine
- Supportive treatments for symptomatic hypotension
