Description

  • Kitocos is a potent analgesic used for short-term management of acute post-operative pain. It is an ophthalmic solution that relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery. It belongs to the pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAIDs.

Indication

  • Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
  • Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
  • Decreasing eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies

Pharmacology

  • Inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme system
  • Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage and administration

  • Tablet: Recommended dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use (up to 7 days), not recommended for chronic use
  • Injection: Single or multiple doses for moderately severe, acute pain management, with specific dosing guidance for different patient populations
  • Eye Drops: Recommended administration of 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily

Interactions

  • Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
  • Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants

Contraindications
