Indications

Healing of Erosive Esophagitis
Maintenance of Healed Erosive Esophagitis
Symptomatic Non-Erosive Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Dosage

30 mg Once daily for Maintenance of Healed Erosive Esophagitis and relief of heartburn
30 mg Once daily for Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD
60 mg Once daily for Healing of Erosive Esophagitis

Administration

Can be taken without regard to food
Should be swallowed whole
Can be administered by opening the capsule and sprinkling intact granules on a tablespoon

Pharmacology

Dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsule is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) which suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the (H+/K+)-ATPase in the gastric parietal cell.

Interaction

Interacts with Atazanavir, Warfarin, Tacrolimus, Clopidogrel, and Methotrexate

Contraindications

Contradicted in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation

No dose adjustment for patients with mild hepatic impairment
Consider maximum daily dose of 30 mg for patients with moderate hepatic impairment

No reports of significant overdose
