Rupaqure 10 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
• Symptomatic treatment of Urticaria

Pharmacology

• Non-sedative antagonist of histamine H1-receptors
• Antagonizes platelet activating factor (PAF)
• Inhibition of degranulation of mast cells
• Inhibition of release of cytokines

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose for adults and adolescents (over 12 years)
• Recommended dose for children aged 2 to 11 years

Interaction

• Concomitant administration precautions with ketoconazole or erythromycin
• Caution with statins, CNS depressants, or alcohol
• Avoid simultaneous intake with grapefruit or grapefruit juice

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or to any of the excipients

Side Effects

• Common: Asthenia, dizziness, drowsiness
• Uncommon: Appetite increased, arthralgia, back pain
• Rare: Palpitations, tachycardia

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use during pregnancy cautious due to lack of clinical data
• Not recommended during lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with known prolongation of the QT interval
• Use with caution in elderly patients (65 years and older)

Use in Special Populations

• Caution in elderly patients
• Safety and efficacy not established in patients less than 12 years of age
• Not recommended in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency

Overdose Effects

• Somnolence is the most common adverse reaction
• Requires symptomatic treatment and supportive measures in case of accidental ingestion of very high doses
