Pharmacology
- Histamine H2-receptor antagonist
- Inhibition of gastric acid secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily
- Usual adult dose (higher): Famotidine 40 mg once daily
- Usual dose for acute gastritis: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily
- Dosage for pediatric patients based on age and condition
Interaction
- No clinically important drug interactions
- Does not interact with cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any component of the drug
