Indications
- Short-term management of post-operative pain
- Relieve pain after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation from allergies
Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAID
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Highly protein bound and metabolized in liver
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic NSAID
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended oral dose: 10mg every 4-6 hours
- IV or IM dosing for different age groups
- Eye drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Not for use in children under 16 years
