Indications
- Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- Reduction in the risk of acute urinary retention and surgery in BPH patients
Pharmacology
- Tamsulosin Hydrochloride, an antagonist of alpha1A-adrenoreceptors
- Dutasteride, a dual 5 alpha reductase inhibitor (5ARI)
- Improvement in urine flow rate and reduction in BPH symptoms
- Affects dynamic component of BPH by inhibiting alpha1-adrenoreceptors
- Affects static component of BPH by inhibiting conversion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
- Selective for alpha 1A and alpha 1D receptors over alpha1B-adrenoreceptor subtype
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose: Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg & Dutasteride 0.5 mg once daily
- Dosage adjustment for severe hepatic impairment
- Capsules should be swallowed whole and not chewed or opened

Contraindications

- Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome observed during cataract surgery
