Indications
- Treatment of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI)
- Treatment of Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
- Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- Highly stable in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
Dosage & Administration
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Adult dosage of 200-400 mg daily based on infection severity
- Dosage for children based on age and weight
Interaction
- Increases in prothrombin times in a few patients
- Care required for patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics

- Mild and self-limiting adverse reactions
