Pharmacology
Histamine H2-receptor antagonist, inhibits basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet:
- Usual dose for adults: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily or Famotidine 40 mg once daily at bedtime
- Usual dosage for acute gastritis, chronic gastritis in acute exacerbation stage: 20 mg twice daily or 40 mg once daily
- Dosage for GERD in various age groups
- Powder for Suspension:
- Dosage for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease(GERD) based on age
Interaction
No clinically important drug interactions identified, does not interact with cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to any component of the drug
