Indications
- Gastric ulcer
- Duodenal ulcer
- Anastomotic ulcer

Pharmacology
- Histamine H2-receptor antagonist
- Inhibition of basal, overnight, and pentagastrin stimulated gastric acid secretion
- Slowly reversible H2-receptor antagonist activity
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose for adults: Famotidine 20 mg twice daily
- Famotidine 40 mg orally once daily at bed time
- Dosage should be adjusted according to age and symptoms
- Recommended oral dose for maintenance therapy is 20 mg once daily
- Dosage for different age groups
Interaction
- No clinically important drug interactions identified
- No interaction with cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system
