Dosage and administration
- Recommended dosage for acute migraine attacks: 200 mg when symptoms appear

Interactions
- Rate of absorption affected by Metoclopramide and Magnesium hydroxide
- Decreases with Aluminium hydroxide
- Increases risk of bleeding with anticoagulants and other NSAIDs
- Decreases antihypertensive response to loop diuretics, B-blockers and ACE Inhibitors
- Increases plasma concentration of Lithium, Methotrexate, and cardiac glycosides
- Increases risk of nephrotoxicity with ACE inhibitors, Ciclosporin, Tacrolimus, or diuretics
Contraindications
- Active gastrointestinal bleeding
- Active gastrointestinal ulceration
- History of gastrointestinal bleeding related to previous NSAID therapy
- History of gastrointestinal haemorrhage
- History of gastrointestinal perforation related to previous NSAID therapy
- History of recurrent gastrointestinal ulceration
- Severe heart failure
Indications
- Relieving the pain of migraine headache
- Analgesic in post-operative pain and fever
Side effects
- Rare side effects include alveolitis, hepatic damage, pancreatitis
- Common side effects: depression, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dysuria, euphoria, gastrointestinal bleeding, discomfort, hallucination, insomnia, malaise, nausea
- Other side effects: hearing disturbances, rash, visual disturbances, vertigo, raised blood pressure
- Symptoms of overdose include headache, vomiting, gastrointestinal bleeding, convulsion, acute renal failure, liver damage
Precautions and warnings
- Precaution needed for patients with asthma, bleeding disorders, cardiovascular diseases, peptic ulceration, hypertension, liver or renal function impairment, and elderly
- Increase water intake or dose reduction to reduce dysuria
Pregnancy and lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless considered essential by a doctor
- Avoid during the third trimester of pregnancy
- NSAIDs can appear in breast milk in very low concentrations
