Indications
- Treatment and prophylaxis of Zinc, Iron, Folic Acid, B-vitamins deficiency, especially during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Iron BP 47 mg (as Iron Polymaltose Complex 188 mg)
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 61.8 mg (eq. to 22.5 mg of elemental zinc)
- Folic Acid BP 0.50 mg
- Thiamine Hydrochloride USP 5 mg
- Riboflavin BP 2 mg
- Nicotinamide USP 20 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 2 mg
Pharmacology
- Special preparation of Iron Polymaltose Complex, Folic Acid, Zinc, and B vitamins
- Water soluble, macromolecular complex of poly nuclear iron (III) hydroxide and partially hydrolysed dextrin (Polymaltose)
- Does not interact with food components and other medications
- Faster rate utilization of iron in haemoglobin synthesis
- Folic acid prevents neural tube defects
- Zinc essential for metabolic processes, blood formation, wound healing, and immune system
- Thiamine essential for nervous and digestive systems
- Riboflavin important for digestion, immune system support, and energy production
- Pyridoxin important for brain development, red blood cell production, metabolism of proteins, and reducing morning sickness
- Nicotinamide important for energy, blood pressure, and circulation
Dosage & Administration
- One capsule daily
- In severe cases, 2 capsules a day may be required or as directed by the physician

- No reported drug interactions
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
Side Effects
- Generally well tolerated; may cause allergic reactions in a few cases
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Recommended during pregnancy & lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Care should be taken in patients at risk of iron overloads such as those with haemochromatosis, haemolytic anaemia or red cell aplasia
- Iron chelates with tetracycline and absorption may be impaired
Overdose Effects
- Accidental overdose of iron-containing products leading cause of fatal poisoning in children below 6 years
- Riboflavin reported to be completely safe with no toxic symptoms reported
- Higher doses of Nicotinamide may cause vomiting, diarrhea
- Sensory neuropathy observed in individuals consuming more than 200 mg Pyridoxine for long periods
- No case of Folic acid overdose reported
- Zinc toxicity seen in both acute and chronic forms
- Ingestion of 150 to 450 mg of zinc per day associated with low copper status, altered iron function, reduced immune function, and reduced levels of high-density lipoproteins; Zinc at RDA dosage does not cause significant effects
