Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis
- Alleviating complications of itching, pain, and tenderness associated with neurofibroma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergy such as hay fever and urticaria
Pharmacology
- Anti-allergic properties
- Antihistamine properties
- Anti-anaphylactic properties
- Sustained inhibitory effect on histamine reactions
- Effective in preventing asthmatic attacks
- Effective in reducing asthma attacks in long-term clinical trials
- Progressive reduction of corticosteroids and/or bronchodilators
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 1 mg twice daily with food, may be increased to 2 mg twice daily in severe cases
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Use in elderly: Same as adult dose or as advised by the physician
Interaction
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed in some patients receiving concomitant oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agents
- Not recommended during pregnancy or when breastfeeding

- Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Continue previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Kidocold to avoid exacerbation of asthma
- Systemic corticosteroids and ACTH should be continued
- Potential impairment of reactions during the first day of treatment
- Avoid alcoholic drinks
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol

- Recommended elimination with gastric lavage or emesis
