Indications
- Reduces risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization
- treatment of symptomatic heart failure
- administered in conjunction with other heart failure therapies
Pharmacology
- Contains neprilysin inhibitor and angiotensin receptor blocker
- increases levels of peptides degraded by neprilysin
- simultaneous inhibition of angiotensin II effects
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended starting dose for adults and pediatric patients
- dose titration for pediatric patients less than 40 kg and at least 40 kg

- Dual blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System
- Potassium-sparing Diuretics
- NSAIDs
- Lithium
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component
- history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB therapy
- concomitant use of ACE inhibitors
- concomitant use of aliskiren in patients with diabetes

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients less than 1 year of age not established
- No relevant pharmacokinetic differences in elderly patients

Precautions & Warnings
- May cause angioedema
- potential symptomatic hypotension
- monitor serum creatinine
- monitor serum potassium
- treat hyperkalemia appropriately
Use in Special Populations

- No relevant pharmacokinetic differences in elderly patients
- dose adjustments for severe renal and hepatic impairment
Overdose Effects
- Hypotension likely result of overdosage
- symptomatic treatment recommended
- unlikely to be removed by hemodialysis due to high protein binding
