Indications

  • Treatment of deep vein thrombosis
  • Treatment of unstable angina and non-Q-wave myocardial infarction
  • Prevention of thrombus formation in the extra-corporeal circulation during haemodialysis
  • Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic disease in surgical and medical patients

Composition

  • 0.2 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 20 mg
  • 0.4 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 40 mg
  • 0.6 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 60 mg
  • 0.8 ml pre-filled syringe contains Enoxaparin Sodium BP 80 mg

Pharmacology

  • Low molecular weight heparin with high anti-Xa activity
  • No notable modification of activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT)
  • Primarily metabolised in the liver

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to Enoxaparin Sodium
  • Active major bleeding
  • High risk of uncontrolled hemorrhage

Side Effects

  • Haemorrhage (bleeding)
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Elevations of serum aminotransferase
  • Pain, bluish marks, skin rash at injection sites
  • Neuraxial hematomas with concurrent use of Xaparin and spinal/epidural anesthesia or spinal puncture

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy category B
  • Unknown excretion in human milk
  • Special consideration for pregnant women with mechanical prosthetic heart valves

Precautions & Warnings

  • Deep subcutaneous route for administration
  • Caution in conditions with increased potential for bleeding
  • Platelet count monitoring
  • No intramuscular administration
