Indications
- Adjunct to diet and exercise for type 2 diabetes mellitus
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of DPP-4 enzyme
- Inhibition of Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2)
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended daily dose of 10mg Empagliflozin and 5mg Linagliptin
- Increased dose possible to 25mg Empagliflozin and 5mg Linagliptin
Renal impaired patients
- Assessment of renal function before initiating
- Discontinue if eGFR falls below 45 ml/min/1.73 m^2
Interactions
- Increased urine volume and frequency with diuretics
- Risk of hypoglycemia with insulin coadministration
- Potential reduction in efficacy with P-glycoprotein or CYP3A4 inducers
Contraindications
- Severe renal impairment
- Hypersensitivity reaction to Linagliptin or Empagliflozin
