Indications
- Treatment of Asthma
- Maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Dosage
- Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): The recommended maintenance dose is 1 puff twice daily or 2 puffs once daily.
- Children: The usual maintenance dose is 1 -2 puffs once or twice daily.
Pharmacology
- Budesonide is an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid with potent glucocorticoid activity.
- Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate is a long-acting, selective β2 - adrenergic agonist with a rapid onset of action.

Administration

Interaction
- Co-administration with strong cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitors should be avoided.
- Beta-blockers should be used with caution as they may block bronchodilatory effects.
Contraindications
- Primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute episodes of asthma or COPD.
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in this preparation.
Side Effects
- Common adverse events of Formoterol Fumarate include tremor, palpitations, and headache.
- Adverse events associated with Budesonide include hoarseness, candida infection, and throat irritation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available for this combination.
- No adequate data from use of Formoterol in pregnant women.
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution should be taken in patients with diabetes mellitus and severe cardiovascular disorders.
- Paradoxical bronchospasm may occur, and if experienced, the medication should be discontinued immediately.
Use in Special Populations
- It is recommended that the height of children receiving prolonged treatment with inhaled corticosteroids is regularly monitored.
Overdose Effects
- Overdose of Formoterol may lead to effects such as tremor, headache, and palpitations.
- Acute overdosage with Budesonide, even in excessive doses, is not expected to be a clinical problem.
Storage Conditions
- Inhalation capsules must not be swallowed and should be stored at or below 25°C temperature.
- Remove Inhalation capsule from the blister pack only immediately before use.
