- 4th generation synthetic broad spectrum
- Fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial drug
- Activity against a wide range of bacteria
- Inhibits topoisomerase II and IV
- Necessary for bacterial DNA replication, transcription & repair

Interaction
- Absorption decreased when administered with antacids
- Absorption decreased when administered with sucralfate
- Absorption decreased when administered with multivitamins
- Absorption decreased when administered with multivalent cations
- Enhances risk of convulsions with NSAIDs
- Enhances risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin

- Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture
- Discontinue if pain or inflammation in a tendon occurs
- Not to be used in patients with known prolongation of the QT interval
- Not to be used in patients with uncorrected hypokalemia
- Not to be used in patients receiving Class IA or Class III antiarrhythmic agents
Use in Special Populations
- No dose adjustment necessary for renal or hepatic impaired patients
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients and adolescents not established
