Indication
- Peptic ulcer diseases
- Gastroesophageal reflux diseases
- Ulcer induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (in combination with antibiotics)
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Pharmacology
Proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid production by binding to the H+/K+ATPase enzyme system
Dosage and administration
- Dosage for benign gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
- Dosage for gastroesophageal reflux disease: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks
- Dosage for duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks
- Dosage for duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori: 40 mg twice daily in combination with antibiotics
- Dosage for prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer: 20 mg daily
- Dosage for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial 80 mg once daily adjusted according to response

No significant drug interactions observed in clinical studies
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components
Side effects
- Common side effects: Headache, diarrhea
- Rare side effects: Abdominal pain, flatulence, rash, insomnia, hyperglycemia
Pregnancy and lactation
FDA Pregnancy Category B, excreted in human milk
Precautions and warnings
- Tablet should not be split, chewed, or crushed
- Long-term therapy may lead to malabsorption of Vitamin B12 or increase the risk of osteoporosis related disorders
Overdose effects
No known symptoms of overdosage in humans, not readily dialyzable

- Iv injection: Reconstituted with 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, should be given as a slow intravenous injection
- Iv infusion: Reconstituted with 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection and further diluted with compatible solutions
