- Tricyclic antidepressant
- Marked anticholinergic and sedative properties
- Prevents reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin

Pharmacology
- Inhibits membrane pump mechanism
- Increases concentration of neurotransmitters
- Regulates mood
- Counteracts deficiencies of serotonin and norepinephrine
- May have analgesic effects
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose for Depression: 75 mg
- Dose for Nocturnal Enuresis in children: 10-50 mg
- Dose for Prophylaxis of Migraine: 100 mg daily
- Dose for Tension Headache: 10-25 mg three times daily
- Gradual increase or decrease of dosage
Interaction
- Enhances sedative effect of alcohol and opioid analgesics
- Increases risk of ventricular arrhythmias with certain drugs
- Inhibited metabolism with Disulfiram and Cimetidine
- Enhances risk of postural hypotension with diuretics
