Alprazol is indicated for anxiety disorder, short term relief of anxiety, anxiety associated with depression, and panic disorder. It has hypnotic and anticonvulsive properties and interacts with the GABA-benzodiazepine receptor complex. Dosage should be individualized for maximum beneficial effect, and overdose effects include somnolence, confusion, impaired coordination, diminished reflexes, and coma.
