Indications

Pharmacology
- Potent nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID)

- Local anaesthetic properties of Lidocaine
- Impairment of nerve impulse generation and conduction by Lidocaine
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage for adults

Interaction
- Interaction with Lithium and Digoxin
- Potential interaction with anticoagulants
- Co-administration with antidiabetic agents
- Cases of nephrotoxicity with Cyclosporin
- Potential toxicity when co-administered with Methotrexate
- Possibility of convulsions when co-administered with quinolone antimicrobials
- Increased frequency of unwanted effects when co-administered with other NSAIDs and steroids
- Inhibition of diuretic activity
- Monitoring of serum potassium levels in co-administration with diuretics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
- Active or suspected peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Precipitation of asthma, urticaria, or acute rhinitis by Aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Hypersensitivity to local anaesthetics of the amide type
- Adams-Stokes syndrome or severe degrees of heart block
- Hypersensitivity to any excipients used in the formulation
Side Effects
- Mild and transient side effects
- Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, and bleeding
- Occasional injection site disorders
- Rare instances of abscesses and local necrosis
- Adverse effects on the central nervous system (CNS) due to Lidocaine
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Lowest effective dosage should be used
- Avoid use during the last trimester of pregnancy
- Detection of small quantities in breast milk with no expected undesirable effects on the infant
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for patients with severe hepatic, cardiac, or renal insufficiency
- Monitoring of renal function for patients on NSAIDs
- Monitoring of liver function for patients on long term treatment with NSAIDs
