Composition

  • 1250 mg Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg elemental Calcium & 200 IU Vitamin D per tablet
  • 1500 mg Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg elemental Calcium & 400 IU Vitamin D per DX tablet
  • 1500 mg Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg elemental Calcium & 400 IU Vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol per effervescent tablet

Dosage & Administration

  • One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water

Interaction

  • Thiazide diuretics and systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
  • Monitoring with concomitant use of thiazide diuretics and adjustment of dose may be needed
  • Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins and laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
  • Interference with absorption of tetracycline preparations
  • Monitoring with hypercalcaemia risk with cardiac glycosides, bisphosphonate, and sodium fluoride use
  • Avoiding calcium products within two hours of consuming oxalic acid and phytic acid rich foods

  • Irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification with persistently high calcium levels
  • Treatment involving discontinuation of calcium and other respective medications, stomach emptying, rehydration, and monitoring of serum electrolytes, renal function, diuresis, ECG, and CVP
