Description

  • Esuvast is indicated for patients with primary hyperlipidemia and mixed dyslipidemia as an adjunct to diet to reduce elevated total-C, LDL-C, ApoB, non HDL-C and TG levels and to increase HDL-C. It is also indicated for patients with hypertriglyceredemia and primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III hyperlipoproteinemia) as an adjunct to diet.

Usual Dosage for Specific Conditions

  • Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia in Pediatric Patients (10 to 17 years of age)
  • Very High Cholesterol and High Risk of Ml or Stroke
  • Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia
  • Dosage in Asian Patients
  • Use with Cyclosporine, Lopinavir/Ritonavir or Atazanavir/Ritonavir
  • Concomitant Lipid-Lowering Therapy
  • Dosage in Patients with Severe Renal Impairment

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to product components
  • Liver disease, which may include unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminase levels
  • Pregnant women and women who may become pregnant
  • Nursing mothers

Pregnancy & Lactation Concerns

  • Administered to women of childbearing age only when highly unlikely to conceive
  • Potential excretion in human milk

Precautions & Warnings

  • Prescribed with caution in patients with predisposing factors for myopathy
  • Discontinued if markedly elevated creatinine kinase levels occur
  • Temporarily withheld in acute, serious conditions suggestive of myopathy
  • Recommended liver enzyme tests before and at 12 weeks following initiation of therapy
  • Periodic liver enzyme tests

Overdose Effects

  • No specific treatment in the event of overdose
  • Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive
  • Hemodialysis does not significantly enhance clearance
