Pharmacology
- Combination of antacids and alginate
- Neutralizes excess stomach acid
- Forms protective barrier over stomach contents
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day
- Child (6-12 years) dosage: 5-10 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times a day
- Chewable tablet dosage for adults and children over 12 years
- No recommended dosage for children under 6 years
- No dose modifications for the elderly
- No dose modifications for hepatic impairment
- Caution for renal insufficiency if highly restricted salt diet is necessary
Interaction
- Consider 2-hour time interval between Gavisilk intake and other medicinal products
- Interaction with Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, Penicillamine, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine, Biphosphonates, and Estramustine

- Known or suspected hypersensitivity to active ingredients or excipients

- Care needed in treating hypercalcaemia and renal calculi patients
- Treatment not generally recommended for children under 12 years except on medical advice
