Description
Gaviflux DX 500 Suspension is indicated in gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, flatulence associated with gastric reflux, heartburn of pregnancy, and all cases of epigastric and retrosternal distress where the underlying cause is gastric reflux. It contains two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate (Sodium alginate) that work by neutralizing excess stomach acid and forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents. The recommended dosage varies for adults, children, and elderly individuals. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic impairment and renal insufficiency. Gaviflux DX 500 Suspension is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients. Common side effects include constipation, flatulence, stomach cramps, belching, and a sensation of swelling if a large dose is taken. It can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if clinically needed. Precautions should be taken regarding its sodium and calcium content, as well as in patients with phenylketonuria and those with highly restricted salt diets. In cases of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be given. Gaviflux DX 500 Suspension should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from light, and out of the reach of children. It should not be refrigerated or frozen.
