Description

  • Indications:
    • Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
    • Risk reduction in NSAID associated gastric ulcer
    • H. pylori eradication (Triple therapy)
    • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretion
  • Composition:
    • 133.333 mg of Esomeprazole enteric coated pellets in 20 mg tablet
    • 266.67 mg of Esomeprazole enteric coated pellets in 40 mg tablet
  • Pharmacology: Inhibits gastric acid by blocking the hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system
  • Dosage:
    • 40 mg once daily for erosive esophagitis in adults
    • 20 mg once daily for maintenance in adults
    • 20 mg twice daily for H. pylori eradication in adults
    • 40-80 mg twice daily for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome in adults
  • Administration: Swallow whole with liquid, can be dispersed in half a glass of non-carbonated water if necessary
  • Interaction:
    • Not likely to inhibit CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6, 2E1 and 3A4
    • Potential interference with CYP2C19 metabolism
    • No significant interactions with phenytoin, warfarin, quinidine, clarithromycin or amoxicillin
  • Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation
