Strength

• 20 mg
• 40 mg

Dosage Instructions

• 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks (adults and adolescents)
• 20 mg once daily for maintenance of healing (adults and adolescents)
• 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks to reduce NSAID associated gastric ulcer risk
• 20 mg twice daily for 7 days for H. pylori eradication (adults and adolescents)
• 40-80 mg twice daily for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretion (adults)
• Dosage for children based on weight and age

Administration Instructions

• Swallow whole with liquid
• Dispersible in non-carbonated water if needed
• Avoid chewing or crushing

Pharmacology

• Inhibition of gastric acid production by blocking the proton pump
• Effective for short-term treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers
• Used in the prevention and treatment of NSAID associated gastric ulcers

Interaction

• Metabolized in the liver by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
• No clinically relevant interactions with specific CYP enzymes expected
