Pharmacology
- Adequate Calcium is vital for bodily functions
- Useful for prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis

Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Can be taken with or without food
- Dissolve effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink orally
- Stir the solution with a spoon before drinking
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Concomitant use with ion exchange resins or laxatives may reduce Vitamin D absorption
- Interference with the absorption of tetracycline preparations
- Increased toxicity of cardiac glycosides during treatment
- Calcium products should not be taken within two hours of foods high in oxalic acid and phytic acid
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol

- No indications of teratogenicity in humans
- Can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding with caution
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring of serum calcium levels during long-term treatment
- Renal function should be monitored
- Caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Risk of soft tissue calcification should be taken into account
- Caution with immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Consideration of vitamin D dose when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D
- Additional doses should be taken under close medical supervision

- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia
- Symptoms may include anorexia, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue

- Monitoring of serum electrolytes, renal function, and diuresis
