Indications
- Gastric reflux
- Heartburn
- Indigestion
- Flatulence associated with gastric reflux
- Heartburn of pregnancy
- Epigastric and retrosternal distress due to gastric reflux
Pharmacology
- Combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate
- Neutralizes excess stomach acid
- Forms protective barrier over stomach contents
- Raft of Alginic Acid gel with near-neutral pH
- Reduces esophageal acid exposure
- Floats on stomach contents to impede gastro-esophageal reflux
- Protects esophagus from Acid, Pepsin, and Bile
Dosage & Administration
- Oral suspension for adults and children over 12 years
- Oral suspension for children 6 to 12 years
- Chewable Tablet for adults and children over 12 years
- Chewable Tablet for children under 12 years (medical advice required)
- Dose adjustments not necessary for elderly
- No recommended dosage for children under 6 years
- Hepatic Impairment: No dose modification necessary
- Renal Insufficiency: Caution if highly restricted salt diet is needed
Interaction
Time-interval of 2 hours should be considered between Gavista DX intake and certain other medicinal products
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to active ingredients or excipients

Pregnancy & Lactation
- No malformative or feto/neonatal toxicity observed in pregnant women
- Safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- No negative effect on parental, offspring fertility or reproduction
Precautions & Warnings
- High sodium content (254.5 mg per 20 ml)
- Care needed in treating patients with hypercalcaemia
- Not generally recommended for children under 12 years (except on medical advice)
- High in sodium, caution for restricted salt diet
- Aspartame content, not suitable for patients with phenylketonuria
- Symptoms masking of other serious medical conditions
- Not for patients with impaired renal function/insufficiency and hypophosphatemia
- May cause allergic reactions
Overdose Effects
Symptomatic treatment recommended, may cause abdominal distension
