Tiemis 5 mg/2 ml (IM/IV Injection)

Indications

• Antispasmodic drug
• Reduces muscle spasm of the intestine
• Reduces muscle spasm of the biliary system
• Reduces muscle spasm of the bladder
• Reduces muscle spasm of the uterus
• Symptomatic treatment of pain related to functional disorders of the digestive tract
• Symptomatic treatment of pain related to biliary system disorders
• Treatment of spasm and pain in urological diseases
• Treatment of spasm and pain in gynaecological diseases

Pharmacology

• Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine
• Competitive antagonist of Histamine
• Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
• Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell
• Inhibition of visceral spasm and pain

Dosage & Administration

• Usual adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
• Usual children's dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
• Injection dose: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily through Intravenous route slowly or Intramuscular route
• Suppository dose: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily through rectal route

Interaction

• Tiemis tablet should not be used with other drugs without prior consultation of a registered physician

Contraindications

• Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorders with a risk of urine retention
• Contraindicated in patients with a risk of angle closure glaucoma

Side Effects

• Risk of hypotension in certain individuals
• Risk of tachycardia in certain individuals

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Results of animal studies did not reveal any teratogenic effects
• No deformities reported with normal use
• Prudence should be the rule for nursing mothers in absence of sufficient data
• No problems reported with normal use

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution during treatment of patients with disorders of the prostate
• Caution in chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
• Risks of visual disturbances can make it dangerous to drive or use machines

Use in Special Populations

• Paediatric use safety and effectiveness not established
• Efficacy and safety maintained with increasing age in geriatric use

Overdose Effects

• No available data regarding the overdose of Tiemis tablet
