Combair (100 mcg+20 mcg)/puff (Inhaler)

Indications

• For use in patients with COPD
• For patients requiring a second bronchodilator

Pharmacology

• Contains Salbutamol (as Sulphate) and Ipratropium Bromide
• Environment friendly inhaler
• Non-CFC propellant
• Short acting beta2-adrenergic bronchodilator
• Anticholinergic bronchodilator
• Maximizes response in COPD patients
• Combines anticholinergic and sympathomimetic mechanisms

Dosage

• Adult dose: 2 puffs 4 times a day
• Maximum 12 puffs in 24 hours
• To be used as directed by the physician

Administration

• Steps to use the inhaler effectively
• Instructions for cleaning the inhaler

Interaction

• Concomitant use with other drugs
• Cautious co-administration with certain medications

Contraindications

• Not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to Soya-Lecithin or related food products
• Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any other components of the drug product or to atropine or its derivatives

Side Effects

• Mild tremor and headache
• Rare reports of muscle cramp, hypersensitivity reactions, angioedema, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypotension
• Reports of headache, influenza, chest pain, nausea, dyspnea, coughing, pharyngitis, sinusitis

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy category B for Ipratropium Bromide
• Pregnancy category C for Salbutamol
• Caution advised during pregnancy and nursing
• No well-controlled studies in pregnant women

Use in Special Populations

• Caution advised in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder-neck obstruction, convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, and those unusually responsive to sympathomimetic amines

Overdose Effects

• Manifestations may include anginal pain, hypertension, hypokalemia, tachycardia

Storage Conditions

• Do not puncture, break, or incinerate the pressurized canister
• Avoid storage in direct sunlight or heat
• Store in a cool and dry place
• Keep away from children and eyes
