Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma

Pharmacology
- Ketotifen has anti-allergic properties

Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Elderly: Same as adult dose or as advised by the physician
Interaction
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed in some patients receiving concomitant oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agent
- No evidence of teratogenic effect, but recommendations for use in pregnancy or when breastfeeding cannot be given

- Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation due to lack of evidence on teratogenic effect
Precautions & Warnings
- Continuation of previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Ketomar
- Avoidance of alcoholic drinks and potentiation of effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol
