Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis
- Alleviating complications of itching, pain, and tenderness associated with neurofibroma
- Symptomatic treatment of allergies such as hayfever and urticaria
Pharmacology
- Anti-allergic properties
- Properties of antihistamine
- Marked anti-anaphylactic properties
- Sustained inhibitory effect on histamine reactions
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1 mg twice daily with food, can be increased to 2 mg twice daily in severe cases
- Children above 3 years: 1 mg twice daily with food
- Use in elderly: Same as adult dose or as advised by the physician
Interaction
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed with concomitant use of oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agents
- Not recommended in pregnancy or when breastfeeding

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation due to lack of evidence on teratogenic effects
Precautions & Warnings
- Continue previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting Zadifen
- Avoid driving or operating machinery on the first day of treatment
- Avoid alcoholic drinks
- May potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol
