Description

  • Montinex is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR) including Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.
  • Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1).
  • Dosage ranges for adults, adolescents, pediatric patients, and special patient groups such as those with hepatic or renal insufficiency.

  • Common: Diarrhea, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin reactions, upper respiratory tract infection
  • Uncommon: Akathisia, anxiety, arthralgia, asthenia, abnormal behavior, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth
  • Rare: Angioedema, concentration impaired, disorientation, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, erythema nodosum

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Crosses the placenta following oral dosing in rats and rabbits
  • Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
  • Caution exercised when given to a nursing mother

Precautions & Warnings

  • Not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks
  • Appropriate rescue medication should be available
  • No abrupt substitution for inhaled or oral corticosteroids
  • Not to be used as monotherapy for the treatment and management of exercise induced bronchospasm
  • Avoidance of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents for patients with known aspirin sensitivity

Overdose Effects
