Description
- Montinex is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR) including Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.
- Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1).
- Dosage ranges for adults, adolescents, pediatric patients, and special patient groups such as those with hepatic or renal insufficiency.
- No clinically important effects on the pharmacokinetics of other drugs administered concomitantly.
- Contraindications for patients hypersensitive to any component of the product.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
Side Effects
- Common: Diarrhea, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin reactions, upper respiratory tract infection
- Uncommon: Akathisia, anxiety, arthralgia, asthenia, abnormal behavior, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth
- Rare: Angioedema, concentration impaired, disorientation, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, erythema nodosum
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Crosses the placenta following oral dosing in rats and rabbits
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution exercised when given to a nursing mother
Precautions & Warnings
- Not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks
- Appropriate rescue medication should be available
- No abrupt substitution for inhaled or oral corticosteroids
- Not to be used as monotherapy for the treatment and management of exercise induced bronchospasm
- Avoidance of aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents for patients with known aspirin sensitivity

- No adverse experiences in majority of overdosage reports
- Usual supportive measures to be employed in case of overdose
