Description

A selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist indicated for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR).

    • No significant effects on the pharmacokinetics of several drugs
    • Reasonable monitoring with cytochrome P450 enzyme inducers
    • Arokast used concomitantly with a wide range of commonly prescribed drugs
  • Contraindications:
    • Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
  • Side Effects:
    • Common, Uncommon, Rare adverse reactions based on clinical studies
  • Pregnancy & Lactation:
    • Crosses the placenta with caution advised during pregnancy and lactation due to lack of sufficient studies
  • Precautions & Warnings:
    • Not indicated for acute asthma attacks
    • Appropriate rescue medication should be available
    • Arokast should not be abruptly substituted for corticosteroids
    • Not to be used as monotherapy for exercise induced bronchospasm
    • Avoidance advised for aspirin-sensitive patients

    • No adverse experiences in the majority of overdosage reports
    • Usual supportive measures advised in case of overdose
