Pharmacology

  • White to cream-colored, crystalline powder
  • Practically insoluble in water
  • Very soluble in alcohol

Dosage & Administration

  • Initial dose may vary from 2.5 mg to 100 mg per day
  • May be injected deeply into the gluteal muscle
  • Pediatric dosage: 0.11 to 1.6 mg/kg/day
  • Administration using strict aseptic technique
  • Vial should be shaken before use
  • For intra-articular administration, a single local injection is often sufficient
