Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose may vary from 2.5 mg to 100 mg per day
- Suggested initial dose for systemic therapy is 60 mg
- Local intra-articular administration may require initial doses of 2.5 mg to 5 mg for smaller joints and from 5 mg to 15 mg for larger joints
Interaction
- Potential interactions with various drugs, including antibiotics, antidiabetics, antitubercular drugs, cyclosporine, and vaccines
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any components
- Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
Side Effects
- Adverse reactions associated with corticosteroid therapy, including allergic reactions, cardiovascular effects, dermatologic issues, endocrine disturbances, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, gastrointestinal concerns, metabolic effects, musculoskeletal problems, neurologic and psychiatric issues, ophthalmic complications

- Increased risk of toxicity in premature and low-birth-weight infants
- No notable differences in elderly subjects observed
