Contraindications

  • History of hypersensitivity to salmeterol xinafoate, fluticasone propionate or any excipients
  • Primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute episodes of asthma requiring intensive measures

Side Effects

  • Tremor, palpitations, headache, cardiac arrhythmia, arthralgia, rash, oedema, angioedema, oropharyngeal irritation, muscle cramps, hoarseness, candidiasis, cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions, facial and oropharyngeal oedema

  • Consideration of expected benefit to the mother vs possible risk to the fetus or child

Precautions & Warnings

  • Not suitable for relief of acute symptoms
  • Vigilance for pneumonia development in COPD patients
  • Monitoring for possible systemic effects including Cushing's syndrome, growth retardation, decrease in bone mineral density
