Indications
- Relieves dry cough
- Used for pre & post-operative cough sedation
- Effective for acute cough of any etiology
- Used for whooping cough
- Effective for cough due to acute lower respiratory tract infections
Pharmacology
- Acts directly on the brain's cough center to suppress cough
- Safe and non-sedating
- Rapid and complete absorption after oral administration
- Extremely protein-bound
- Plasma elimination half-life is about 13 hours
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 2-3 tablets daily
- Adult syrup dosage: 15 ml 4 times daily
- Adolescent dosage: 1-2 tablets daily
- Children (3-6 yrs) syrup dosage: 5 ml 3 times daily
- Children (6-12 yrs) syrup dosage: 10 ml 3 times daily
- Adolescent syrup dosage: 15 ml 3 times daily
- Children (2 months-1 yr) drops dosage: 0.50 ml 4 times daily
- Children (1-3 yrs) drops dosage: 0.75 ml 4 times daily
Interaction
- Concomitant use with expectorants should be avoided
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient

- Adverse reactions may include rash, nausea, diarrhea, and vertigo
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid use during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Caution advised for use during the remainder of pregnancy
- Carefully weigh benefits against risks during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid concomitant use with expectorants
- Consult a doctor if cough persists for more than 7 days (3 days in children <12 years)
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of balance, and hypotension
- Follow standard emergency procedures for accidental overdose
