Indications

Composition

  • Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide BP 20 mg per 5 ml syrup
  • Phenylephrine Hydrochloride BP 10 mg per 5 ml syrup
  • Triprolidine Hydrochloride BP 2.5 mg per 5 ml syrup

Pharmacology

  • Contains antitussive, decongestant, and antihistamine agents
  • Dextromethorphan is a safe, effective, non-narcotic antitussive agent
  • Phenylephrine shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passage
  • Triprolidine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children over 12 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 4 times a day every 4 hours interval.

Interaction

  • Should not be taken with certain MAO inhibitors
  • Avoid concurrent use with isocarboxazid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, and others

Contraindications

Avoid in patients with liver disease or asthma, and those taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors

  • May cause drowsiness and constipation
  • Other potential side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort
