Pharmacology
Oral mucolytic agent disrupting acid mucopolysaccharide fibres, producing less viscous mucus, and aiding expectoration
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) 3 times daily
- Children (over 12 years) dose: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) 3 times daily
- Children (6-12 years) dose: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 3 times daily
- Children (2-6 years) dose: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) 3 times daily
Interaction
No significant interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Bromhexine Hydrochloride or any ingredients
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal side effects
- Transient rise in serum aminotransferase values
- Headache
- Dizziness

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Special care recommended during pregnancy
- Assess benefits against possible effects on children
- Not recommended in lactation as it may enter breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with care in patients with history of peptic ulcer disease
- Care advisable in asthmatic patients
- Clearance may be reduced in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment
