Indications
- Respiratory tract disorders
- Productive cough

Pharmacology
- Oral mucolytic agent
- Disrupts acid mucopolysaccharide fibres
- Produces less viscous mucus
- Facilitates expectoration
- Rapid & complete absorption from gastrointestinal tract
- Widely distributed into body tissues
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) 3 times daily
- Children over 12 years dose: 10 ml (2 teaspoons) 3 times daily
- Children 6-12 years dose: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 3 times daily
- Children 2-6 years dose: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) 3 times daily
- Not recommended for children under 2 years without advice
Interaction
- No known significant interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Bromhexine Hydrochloride or any ingredients of the product
Side Effects
- Occasional gastrointestinal side effects
- Transient rise in serum aminotransferase values
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Special care recommended during pregnancy
- Assess benefits against possible effects on children
- Not recommended for lactating mothers due to expected entry into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with care in patients with history of peptic ulcer disease
- Advisable in asthmatic patients
- Reduce clearance in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment
