Description
- Indicated for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar depression, sleep disturbances, seasonal affective disorder, migraine, and cluster headaches
- Binds to melatoninergic and serotoninergic receptors to normalize circadian rhythms and sleep-wake cycles
- Effective dose is 25 mg per day, can be increased to 50 mg per day
- Orally administered with or without food, recommended for night time dosing
- Metabolized by cytochrome P450 1A2 and CYP2C9, potential interactions with inhibitors of these isoenzymes
