Indications
- Symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders
- Productive cough relief
- Relief from nasal decongestant
- Relief from histamine H1 receptor antagonist
- Expectorant combination
Pharmacology
- Pseudoephedrine acts as a decongestant and bronchodilator
- Guaifenesin reduces viscosity of sputum
- Triprolidine is an antihistamine for relief of hypersensitivity reactions
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) thrice a day
- Children 6-12 years dosage: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) thrice a day
- Children 2-5 years dosage: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoonful) thrice a day
- Prefer physician's advice for children aged less than 2 years
Interaction
- Concomitant use with sympathomimetic agents
- Contraindicated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors
- Partial reversal of hypotensive action of certain drugs
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to constituents
- Cardiovascular disease
- Lower respiratory symptoms including asthma
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) therapy
