Indications
Fast & effective relief of Chest congestion, Cough, Sore throat
Pharmacology
- Guaifenesin is an expectorant
- Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant
- Menthol is an organic compound with local anesthetic and counterirritant qualities
Dosage & Administration
Adult Use Only (12 years and over): 2 teaspoonful syrup (10 ml) every 6 hours. Maximum 8 teaspoonful syrup (40 ml)/day
Interaction
Possible reactions systemically may occur with acetaminophen / hydrocodone, diphenhydramine, escitalopram, acetaminophen / codeine, alprazolam and ondansetron
Contraindications
Do not use if currently taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)

- Gastrointestinal disturbance
- Feeling nervous, restless, anxious, or irritable
Pregnancy & Lactation
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide-guaifenesin assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Use during pregnancy only when benefit outweighs risk
Precautions & Warnings
Talk to a doctor before using if you have asthma, chronic lung disease, shortness of breath, persistent/chronic cough, or taking a drug for depression
Overdose Effects
Overdosage with guaifenesin unlikely to produce toxic effects. Gastric emptying (emesis and/or gastric lavage) is recommended for Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide overdosage. Menthol can be harmful in large amounts
