Indications

Pharmacological Actions
- Decongestant
- Bronchodilator
- Vasoconstriction via stimulation of adrenergic receptors
- Bronchial relaxation
- Increase in heart rate and contractility
- Norepinephrine release
- Reduction of sputum viscosity

Dosage and Administration
- Adult dosage: 10 ml (2 teaspoonful) three times a day
- Children 6-12 years dosage: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) three times a day
- Children 2-5 years dosage: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoonful) three times a day
- Prefer physician's advice for children under 2 years
Interactions
- Concurrent use with sympathomimetic agents may cause rise in blood pressure
- Partial reversal of hypotensive action of certain drugs
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to constituents
- Cardiovascular disease including hypertension
- Lower respiratory symptoms including asthma
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) therapy

- Caution in patients with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, elevated intra-ocular pressure, prostatic enlargement, severe renal and hepatic impairment
- Avoid use for persistent or chronic cough without physician direction
